For those who don’t already know I decided to make a quick guide on how to install Sourcemod on your game servers.
STEP ONE: DOWNLOAD SOURCEMOD

This is the easy step, simply click the link provided above to download the latest Sourcemod… Make sure you download the correct version because there is a version for windows based and linux based game server, so check with your server provider which you have.
STEP TWO: DOWNLOAD METAMOD:SOURCE

Metamod:source is required and essential to run Sourcemod, go ahead and download this, again make sure you download the correct version depending on which OS your server runs as explained in step 1.
STEP THREE: CREATE AND DOWNLOAD VDF FILE

Click the link above to visit this page, select which OS you are running from the drop down menu and then select which game you want it for. Click the “GET VDF FILE” button and a download window will open, save this file.
STEP FOUR: CONNECT TO SERVER FTP AND UPLOAD FILES
Most of us are familiar with FTP so I’m not going to go into details about this, open up your FTP program, if you don’t have one you can get FireFTP for free… Once you have your FTP open enter in your server IP minus the port for the host, then enter the user and password your server provider gave you for your c-panel… This should connect you to your server and give you a list of the directory structure.
Once you’ve connected to your server, go ahead and open up the zip files you just got done downloading for sourcemod and metatmod:source.. They should be ready to go, meaning you shouldn’t have to do anything but drag the contents of the zip into your root directory of your game server. When you open the sourcemod zip file you’ll see 2 folders, addons and cfg, in the metamod:source zip you’ll only see addons, since most game servers already have a cfg folder your ftp might ask you if you want to merge the folders, say yes to this. Same will happen when you copy metamod:source onto the server if your server already has an addons folder, which if you copy sourcemod first will apply. So drag over the contents of both zips to your game server, let it upload, when they’re complete find the VDF file you just made and downloaded and copy that into the addons folder directly.
STEP FIVE: ADD YOURSELF AS MAIN ADMIN
After you’ve uploaded all the files, double click on addons, then sourcemod, then configs and find a file named admin_simple.ini. Open that up in a text editor of your choice, I use notepad. There should be some instructions included in the file, read them and follow them and you shouldn’t have any issues putting yourself as main admin…
FINAL STEP: REBOOT SERVER AND TEST
Once this is taken care of, visit your c-panel and reboot the server, join the game and you can either bind a key to admin or type !sm_admin. This will bring up the admin menu! As long as you’ve done everything correct you should have no problems and everything should work great! Have fun, play with the menu and get to know some of the options!
