Does anyone Google +?

Loading ...Seems there are a lot of social media services now, most of which nobody really uses. If you use social media you most likely have either settled with Facebook or Myspace, but will you settle with Google +? Will this do anything more than separate use even more?
Think about it, most users will pick one social media network, they will use it sparingly. Only a handful of the users are fans or professionals who take advantage of ALL the social networks. I for example am a part of most of the networks, at least the ones I feel are important. Google +, Facebook, Myspace, Stumble Upon, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIN. I am a part of all these because I work in web design and know it's beneficial to be in more places than one. However, to the average user most of these services are not necessary in my opinion. Not only is it annoying to have to update 8 different social sites all the time, but if you're not part of one you might miss a client or new friend whatever. Having multiple services more or less seperates people more because you have groups of people on each network that do not communicate with the others.
Another way you can tell social networking is overwhelming is mainly because most users won't like or + your site. You're lucky if they want to do one, but to ask them to do both or more seems to be out of the question. You'll find a lot more users will choose to Facebook LIKE your site vs anything else. Why because Facebook thus far has met the demand of it's users better than any other service. Facebook has a giant user base, maybe this why Google feels they can do the same thing and succeed and they probably will. Honestly I'd be fine with Google running the show honestly. They're the #1 search provider, they have the smarts and means to pretty much develop anything they desire, they have the largest user base over any online presence, they are very capable of bringing the world together and it would be easier for everyone if we had just one place to go vs 18 or 50.
Anyway, not sure how everyone else feels about it, if you want, chime on in with you feelings on social networking.
Lotus clan shut down by Steam?

Not sure when or if this happened. This is probably old news, but was curious if anyone knows of this, maybe has some more info. ?

Steam forums hacked?

Here is the actual announcement from Steam. As of right now the forums and community have been shut down. Hopefully they will resolve this quickly! =)

Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users:
Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6. We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums.
We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was cracked. We are still investigating.
We don’t have evidence of credit card misuse at this time. Nonetheless you should watch your credit card activity and statements closely.
While we only know of a few forum accounts that have been compromised, all forum users will be required to change their passwords the next time they login. If you have used your Steam forum password on other accounts you should change those passwords as well.
We do not know of any compromised Steam accounts, so we are not planning to force a change of Steam account passwords (which are separate from forum passwords). However, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to change that as well, especially if it is the same as your Steam forum account password.
We will reopen the forums as soon as we can.

Blahh! IE is out… No more support for this seriously crappy browser.

Like I said, I have no idea exactly what they're doing, but it appears whatever restrictions or new technology they're trying to monopolize and force down everyone's throats is causing major issues with web sites. I mean seriously, when is IE going to support CSS 3 specifically rounded corners? IE is so lame! They have the crappy compatibility mode, as if this is going to help us. When I think compatible and the fact that I have to click a button to make IE compatible with a website I get really annoyed. Why would I want to waste my time with a browser that isn't compatible with websites? Especially when there are several other great browsers that work. Firefox has always been my favorite, Chrome is up there and is a great browser and then Safari. All of these are far better than IE.
So I've come to the conclusion. No longer will this website support IE until they pull their heads out of their asses. I highly recommend to other developers they do the same thing. That we stand up to IE and put a banner on our sites that says we no longer support IE. It's like trying to fit DDR2 into DDR3 slots. You really want to use the memory, but you know you can't, you just gotta let it go. The same goes with IE. We have tried really hard to make our sites compatible with IE and in the long run have to hack code and use JavaScript to get IE to function correctly. IE YOU ARE A THORN IN MY SIDE!

You'll have to visit the website for all the details. From what I've seen it auto invites users to steam groups and does a good job of it.
